Mancala is believed to be one of the oldest games in the world. Some examples if Stone Mancala "boards" have been dated to before 1400BC but it is difficult to be precise, as the game was and still is, played using pebbles with hollows made in the earth.
Variations of Mancala are played all over Africa and in parts of Asia. African versions include interesting names such as Bao, Awari, Awele, Oware and Wouri; the best known being Wari and Ayo. The boards have the varying layouts and numbers of hollows, but the game is essentially the same.
The rules are very simple and are included in this set.

This is a simple but compelling game for virtually any number of players.
It is frequently played for small stakes in pubs and bars, where a small set is often kept by the landlord for the entertainment of the customers.
This set consists of a baize lined tray with nine pivoting wooden tiles, each numbered individually on both sides. When the blocks are lying parallel to the tray, they are "open"; when they are tilted back against the edge of the tray, they are "closed" or "shut".
The object is to "shut" the numbers by throwing the two dice into the tray abd using the score to flip over tiles to the same total value. All the dice score must be used exactly, but it is the player's choice as to which combination of yiles is flipped over.

The traditional game of Table Skittles, sometimes known as Pub Skittles or Devil among the Tailors.
Players take it in turn to swing the ball round the back of the post and attempt to strike the skittles on the return. The object is to knock over as many skittles as possible in three consecutive swings, before play passes to the next player.
A tally is kept on the special scoreboard provided and in the Pub version, it would not be unusual for the players to have a little wager on the outcome.
Table Skittles is thought to have originated in the 18th Century. A riot, involving some London tailors, was quashed with such zeal, by the Dragoons, that a comparison was drawn with the effect of the ball striking the skittles. Subsequently the game was often known as Devil among the Tailors.
