The Roman Army are "getting their way" all over Britain under the leadership of Mark Anthony (Sid James).

Meanwhile the sickly Julius Caesar (Kenneth Williams) despairs of the filthy weather but soon perks up at the site of the Bristol stunner Gloria (Julie Stevens).

Horsa (Jim Dale), the forlorn boyfriend of Gloria, sets out to free her with the aid of his neightbour and invesntor of the square wheel, Hengist Pod (Kenneth Connor).

However, our heroes are captured and shipped to Rome where they escape and make their way to Egypt.

Much to the chagrin of Caesar's wife Calpurnica (Joan Sims), Caesar and Mark Anthony are also Egypt bound and joined by her father, the old sage Seneca (Charles Hawtrey).

Little does Caesar know that Mark Anthony is plotting his downfall so that he can claim the sultry Cleo (Amanda Barrie) and the Roman Empire for himself!!!
